Self-Care For Positive Change

Self-Care For Positive Change

?Part of my self-care journey has included making intentional, positive lifestyle changes ??‍♀️ mentally, by choosing to go to therapy, and ??physically, by deciding to get weight loss surgery. ?It’s been 9 months and I’ve lost 79 lbs. I started at 289 lbs ? and am currently at 210 ?? It’s been a weird and challenging adjustment changing my eating ? and dealing with the mental and physical toll of having vertical gastric sleeve surgery. However, ?it’s been worth every minute. I still have some additional healthy habits to incorporate and have been doing the work to change a mindset that had developed over the past 10+ years. ?Being self-aware helped me realize that my initial weight gain and subsequent pre-diabetes diagnosis was linked to many factors: depression, low self-esteem, comfort eating, late night snacking after heavy drinking, poor sleeping habits, denial etc. ? couple that with feeling unsupported, unseen and not heard- it can make for some heavy emotional issues. Add trauma to the mix and geez! You get the point right?? ? I feel blessed to have been given a second chance to reclaim my life!!!
