DEFINITION OF BEAUTIFUL (dictionary.com)
1. having beauty; possessing qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind:
a beautiful dress; a beautiful speech.
2. excellent of its kind:
a beautiful putt on the seventh hole; The chef served us a beautiful roast of beef.
When you read the definition of the word beautiful, what thoughts come up when you think of a beautiful life? Are they positive? Are they thoughts of a future life you would like to experience? Are thoughts of a beautiful life applied to your current living situation in a positive way? Or are you having feelings that you could never have a beautiful life?
To me a beautiful life is relative. I love the definition “possessing qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind”.
Living in gratitude, I intentionally seek out beauty in my life on a daily basis.
For example, when I look at my little kiddos all I see is the beauty in their innocence. If I am stuck in traffic, depending on which way I am driving, I take the time to gaze upon the beauty of my city and notice things I might not notice when speeding my way through town.
Taking time to switch up my thinking affords me the ability to live a positive, beautiful life. I can get through trials quicker and easier, knowing that it is a temporary situation and I force myself to find the beauty in it.
I encourage you to look at your life and find all that is beautiful. If that is difficult, look to even the smallest things, like a smile from a stranger or getting in and out of the post office in record time. Appreciation make life easier.
